What is QR Code:

A QR Code is a two-dimensional Barcode. It is readable by smartphones. It can encode about four thousand (4000) characters in  a two dimensional code. A QR Code can be used to display text to user, an email address, text messages, URL etc... QR Code is registered by DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

To read QR Code in your smartphone you need to read an appropriate software in your smartphone. If you are using an Android Device you can use it Barcode Scanner by ZXing. On iOS-Devices like iphones there are also QR Code readers available on the AppStore, for Example I-ninja. On Firefox OS try QR Code Scanner. On Symbian devices, you can use Mobiletag barcodes readers for example.

If you use a modern web browser (i.e recent versions of Firefox and Chrome) and have a webcam, this site allows you to scan QR codes with your web browser. You can use this to send a link from a phone to your desktop browser for example.
